Short story (kahani) script in Hindi

The biggest difference between a story in a book and a story in a Short is pace. A book has pages to set the scene; a Short sets it in one line and starts at the moment something changes.

This guide covers every kind of short kahani: everyday, emotional, motivational, folk tale, mythology and true-story style.

Start in the middle

Not 'Ek gaon mein ek kisaan rehta tha', but the moment the farmer found something in his field. Backstory can come later, in a line or two.

A simple test: delete your first line. If the story still makes sense, that line didn't need to be there.

Folk tales and mythology

A whole epic won't fit in 60 seconds. Pick one moment and tell it with full feeling.

  • Choose a lesser-known episode. If everyone knows it, there's no mystery left.
  • 'Ending first' hooks work well here: 'Raajya de diya… sirf ek vachan ke liye.'
  • Treat matters of faith with respect and care, and don't state what you're unsure of as fact.

Motivational stories without clichés

Motivation lands when it's specific: one person, one struggle, one turning point, and a payoff the viewer feels was earned. End on an action, not a quote.

True-story style, responsibly

Grounded detail and a restrained voice make these stories powerful. Never repeat real people's names, identities or accusations, and don't present what you added to the story as fact.

Example script: 35 seconds, the changing ending (Hinglish)

Idea: A child who changes the ending of grandma's story every night35 seconds
  1. Hook0:00

Mera pota har raat kahani badal deta hai.

  2. Setup0:03

Raja marta hai, woh zinda kar deta hai. Sher jeet'ta hai, woh khargosh ko jita deta hai.

  3. Build0:11

Ek raat maine poocha, 'Kahani waisi hi kyun nahi rehne dete?'

  4. Twist0:17

Woh bola, 'Kyunki aapki kahani mein Dadaji hamesha chale jaate hain.'

  5. Payoff0:24

Us raat maine bhi ant badal diya. Dadaji ghar laut aaye.

  6. Loop0:30

    Aur ab har raat…

The emotional twist comes from one small line, not a big event.

Common mistakes

  • Spending half the video introducing characters.
  • Two twists in one story. In 40 seconds, one is enough.
  • Loud background music under an emotional story, drowning the voice.
  • Retelling someone else's written story or video script word for word.

Your own voice feels most trustworthy. If you use an AI voice that sounds like a real person, disclose it when uploading to YouTube.

Can I split one long story into several Shorts?

+

Yes, but each part should be a complete beat that ends on a question for the next, and each should open with a one-line recap.
