Shorts retention: what makes viewers swipe
Most swipes happen in the first line. Silent openings, slow setups and long pauses are the usual causes, and all three are measurable before you post.
What works
- No pause longer than 0.7s in the first 10 seconds.
- Aim for about -14 LUFS.
- Keep captions out of the bottom caption area and away from the right-side buttons.
